What to Expect
Here’s just a sprinkling of what you can expect to experience at Standon Calling this summer:
- The opportunity to see artists in a more intimate festival setting than anywhere else.
- A swimming pool to cool off in or lounge around during the day. There’s nothing like it at any other festival in the UK.
- A proper three-day party. We have an all-night licence that our guests take enthusiastic advantage of.
- To discover a bunch of artists about to breakthrough. In 2008, Florence and the Machine played and we paid her in magic beans. This year she won a Brit and Latitude is paying her a king’s ransom to headline.
- A nightclub in a cowshed which never seems to close. It’s another unique feature.
- A level of individual care you won’t find at any other festival. As an example, the Standon fairies leave a revitalising drink outside each guest’s tent in the morning.
- An incredibly friendly crowd. We know we’re biased, but our guests continue to make Standon Calling the experience it is.
- A gorgeous setting. Standon Calling is set in the spacious grounds of a 16th century manor house.
- So many showers you won’t have to queue.
- Some truly creative costumes. Our guests have amazing imaginations when it comes to interpreting the fancy dress theme.
- Secret areas that open up at midnight.
- A theme that isn’t just about the costumes. ‘Murder on the Standon Express’ will shape and influence the stages, set design, our artists, our installations and the interactive theatre.
- An array of food that is almost a line-up in itself.
- Various art installations scattered around our fields.
- Toilets so clean you could sleep in them.
- Space to camp. People don’t like to be crammed on top of each other, so we make sure you’re not.
- Not a sponsor in sight. We don’t like ugly adverts much and we’re guessing you don’t either, so we’re doing our best not to sell out.
- A short walk from the car park to the site. There’s nothing worse than arriving at a festival and having to traipse 20 miles with your stuff. We make sure you don’t have to.
- Not a very long journey if you’re coming from London. We’re just 40 minutes away.
