Food & Drink
In 2012 Standon Calling will have plenty of food options again. We’re passionate about good food and wherever possible strive to use local produce. We’ve haven’t confirmed who’ll cook what yet, but to give you a taster, here’s what was on offer last year:
- Moosboosh give the festival burger a facelift with their handmade Aberdeen Angus beef burgers and homemade relishes, while Happy Herefords & Tipsy Tamworths serve up succulent steaks from traditional Hereford cattle and sausages from their Tamworth & Gloucester Old Spot pigs. Salad Days live up to their name and more so; besides a dazzling selection of salads, they also cook up BBQ lamb and chicken.
- Vegetarians fear not: you’re more than catered for as well. The Arancini Brothers aren’t magicians and they’re not playing our folk tent. Instead, they’ll be busy making up delectable, gluten-free vegetarian risotto balls alongside some inventive salads and sauces.
- Prefer pies? Try Pieminister. Want something spicier? How about Jumping Bean Burritos or a curry courtesy of festival favourite, The Thali Café? For the traditionalists, Sea Cow will be frying ethically sourced fish and chips each night, while come the morning, various stalls will have full English breakfasts on offer. The more adventurous will be pleased to hear that as well serving Nick’s paellas Jamon Jamon will also be making their infamous ‘Fryella’ breakfasts.
- Of course, Standon would not be the same without Lucy’s Tasty Toasties, and Steve’s Carnival Coffee. Both are Standon regulars, as are sausage merchants Days of Ashwell, and Japanese caterers Hide and Rintaro.
