What’s better than spending a weekend camping in Standon Calling’s glorious fields on festival weekend? How about spending it in a luxury abode, lovingly prepared by outdoor experts that you don’t have to put up yourself? Boutique Camping at Standon Calling is the closest thing to staying in a hotel on site.

This year we have three different options – Bell Tents, Tipis and Yurts – which all come in varying sizes. The cosiest is perfect for couples and sleeps two, while the giant structures accommodate up to 20, allowing you to host your own private festival within the festival. Each can be furnished with a variety of optional extras from beds and linen to rugs and cushions depending on your budget and requirements. The Boutique Camping area has its own wristbands, 24-hour reception and separate toilets and showers, as well as a chill-out lounge with cosy low-level seating to relax on, phone charging points and a sound system.

Camper van tickets now on sale

Due to demand we’ve enlarged the camper van site to allow more camper vans at the festival than ever before. We now have 60 camper van spaces available at £40 each, but due to demand would advise you to book sooner, rather than later, to secure a spot.

Located close to the campsites in the same position as last year, the camper van area is in close proximity to the arena, putting it at the heart of the festival and has its own fresh water supply. A maximum of one tent and one awning is allowed next to each camper van. Unfortunately, due to space we can’t allow Winnebagos on site. Early Bird Tickets on sale

Regular Early Bird Tickets are now on sale at just £85 each, after the £79 Super Early Bird Tickets sold out in less than a week.

“This is the fastest any Standon Calling Early Bird tickets have sold out ever, and we’re anticipating similar demand for the next batch of tickets,” says production director Graham MacVoy. ” Hopefully this shows that people who came last year had such a good time that they wanted to guarantee they were at next year’s party.”

If you’re wondering what to get a special someone for Christmas this year, a festival ticket makes for a pleasant surprise. And, don’t forget, two Standon Calling Early Bird Tickets are the equivalent price of one ticket at some festivals.

What To Expect
We love booking eclectic line-ups and 2012 will be no different with top bands, diverse entertainment and world-class DJs on the bill. In signature style next year’s theme will take over the festival site with interactive theatre, art installations and the ever-more impressive costumes our crowd dream up. We’re also taking it back to the old school by opening on Friday night with a rave!

Twisted Licks Christmas Party

Twisted Licks, which hosted the second stage at Standon Calling in 2011 are having a Christmas Party on Wednesday 13th December to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. Both Pushing Hands and Worship who appeared at Standon this year are playing the party at The Star of Kings pub in North London, alongside Blackeye, Belgrade, Volunteers and Doors.

Rave in a Horse Box

One of the highlights of Standon Calling 2011 was the JW Seasonnaires vintage Horse Box where artists like Herve, Sinden, Little Boots and Zinc kept us raving until the sun came up (at least it seemed that way). Lest we forget, here’s a video to remind us just how good it was.

Extremely limited numbers of Super Early Bird Tickets are now on sale at just £79. Last year’s Early Birds sold out in record time, so act fast to bag tickets for next summer’s most irresponsible and decadent garden party. If you’re stuck for Christmas present ideas, you could do worse than provide your loved ones with passes to Standon Calling.

“We passionately believe festivals should be more affordable. Price inflation in recent years is making festivals almost as expensive as going away on holiday. This isn’t sustainable particularly when everyone is feeling the pinch,” says production director Graham MacVoy. “We’ve spent the last few months talking to our regulars and come up with a plan to focus more on areas they love whilst simplifying others to get the price down. It’s a fresh approach and we are really excited about revealing it over the coming months.”

We’re incredibly excited about the range of talent and sonic diversity playing at Standon Calling this year. We’ve got a mix of critically acclaimed names like Spiritualized, Lamb, Saul Williams and Penguin Cafe, and some of the hottest acts around, ranging from Azari & III to John Grant, Egyptrixx, I.R.O.K, White Noise Sound, Gallops and Trophy Wife.

Our booker, Tam McLarty’s compiled a Standon Calling 2011 Spotify playlist, so, if you don’t know them, you can discover the artists ahead of the festival and if you do, you can simply enjoy them in the build-up. Here’re some comments from her about the highlights on her playlist. Alternatively, don’t listen to us, have a listen to them.

“Spiritualized have so many hits from so many classic records, I can’t imagine how incredible they’ll sound on our sound system. ‘Come Together’ is going to be a great, great moment. It’s brilliant to hear Lamb are back and it’s a real treat to have one of their rare festival appearances at Standon. Azari & III are one of the hottest new acts in techno-soul coming all the way from Canada. They’ll kick off the Friday night in style headlining the Twisted Licks tent. Also hailing from Canada are Egyptrixx, our penultimate act on Saturday on the Twisted Licks stage.

“Julio Bashmore’s debut EP of skewed house came out on Claude Von Stroke’s highly influential label Dirtybird in late 2009 and the dance world has been hooked ever since – his sets are legendary. Broken Records and John Grant are both stunning live. Penguin Cafe’s new work (led by Arthur, son of Simon Jeffes) is glorious and beautiful and absolutely perfect for the sunset slot on Sunday.”

Horse Box Mixtapes

JW Seasonnaires’ vintage Horse Box is coasting across the country this summer stopping off at the odd festival. Rammed with stellar British music talent, it finishes its tour at Standon Calling. Below are two mixtapes JW Seasonnaires have put together. The first is a pre-Standon promo mix described as “a little more mellow than our usual stuff”. The second comes exclusively from Sinden as he ripped apart the Horse Box at Beach Break Live last month.

Stage Times

On Friday the live music kicks off at midday in the Magpie’s Nest tent, with the Main Stage getting into action just before 4pm. The parties go on all night long every night with DJs playing until the early hours. Don’t forget the site is open tonight
