EVEN MORE NEW ACTS

With 28 new acts joining us, we’ve now got close to 100 bands, DJs and other artists performing this year.

Armed with live beats, inventive dance routines and flashing lights on their chests are electro-pop outfit Metronomy. Joining them are indie daredevils British Sea Power, whose live shows have earned their place in festival folklore, and antifolk hipster and comic book nut Jeffrey Lewis. We’ve also got ex-Beta Band singer Steve Mason, a UK exclusive from Swedish experimentalists, WildBirds & Peacedrums, one of the finest British soul voices around in Alice Russell and spaced-out Californian psych rockers, Sleepy Sun.

Fresh from supporting Them Crooked Vultures are And So I Watch You From Afar, who’ll be vying with Three Trapped Tigers to see who can deliver the most explosive instrumental set. Rounding out the new acts playing across our three main stages are Telepathe, Lone Wolf, Swimming, Harry’s Gym, Brendan Rogers and Sparrow and the Workshop.

But when the main stage sound is switched off, why should the party end? While our on-site nightclub Camp Alcatraz will be open, we’re also catering to those who need a late-night live music fix or fancy something a bit different. Enter entertainment from The Great Brain Robbery.

We’ve had some weird goings-on in terms of early-hours entertainment over the years, but Cleaning Women will take some beating on the oddball front. This Finnish three-piece look like cross-dressing zombies and fashion instruments out of parts they salvage from rubbish bins, like a drum kit featuring old washing machine parts. Hip hop meets cabaret with the Rotten Hill Gang led by former guitarist of The Clash, Mick Jones. These headliners will be joined by Hook & the Twin, Hooligan Night, Mano De Dios and The Amigos, with burlesque performances from Roxy Velvet, Ryan Styles, La Scarah and The Great Brain Robber, and DJ support from The Good Count and Mental Blank. Oh, and Farmageddon favourites, Death ‘N’ Glory will be popping up somewhere over the weekend. Watch out for the motorbike.

So, with close to 100 entertainers performing across three stages, numerous tents, some secret areas and a nightclub in a cowshed, we’re poised to put on the biggest Standon Calling in terms of acts to date. But rest assured: the intimate atmosphere will remain intact. The most important element of Standon Calling remains the people who come to it and we’re working hard to make sure you receive the experience you deserve. Just can’t wait for August 6-8th now.
Hope you can join us!
